Welsh Government KEEP WALES SAFE Campaign Update

The ever-changing COVID-19 situation continues to put NHS staff and services under huge pressure.

Now more than ever people need to think carefully about where the right place is to seek advice and avoid extra pressure on the NHS this winter.  However, the NHS is still here for you if and when you need it, but the way you access services might be different.

We are encouraging people to still attend their hospital appointments when asked to or review their treatment. A range of appropriate measures have been taken in hospitals to keep people safe, including treating people with coronavirus or suspected coronavirus in separate areas to those who do not have the virus to prevent the risk of it spreading.

The NHS is working hard to keep services running while trying to keep you safe. If you are worried about persistent symptoms contact your GP. After being offered a medical appointment please make sure you attend at the scheduled time. It is safe to do so.  Alternatively, you may be offered a video consultation; this is still a full consultation visit but saves you travelling to your local surgery.

As well as making sure you seek help when you need it, the Keep Wales Safe campaign is asking people to use the online symptom checker on the NHS 111 Wales website (111.wales.nhs.uk) or call 111 for advice on where to go to get the right treatment.  By choosing the right service for your needs we can ensure we do not put extra pressure on GPs, Emergency Departments and the emergency ambulance services as they continue to tackle the pandemic.

Did you know that community pharmacies play a key role in helping people, with minor ailments and injuries, get the right medicines and support. Where possible you can assist pharmacists by ordering repeat prescriptions seven days before they are due. Or if you have a minor injury there are clinics that can treat you so you don’t need to go to A&E? Find your closest clinic here

And remember if you have COVID symptoms no matter how mild, please self-isolate and book a test by calling 119 or call 111 if symptoms persist and you can no longer cope at home.

We’re all in this together. Help us help you.

COVID-19 Vaccination update from Hywel Dda Local Health Board - Urgent

5/2/2021

Hywel Dda University Health Board is asking people in vaccine priority groups 1 to 3 to get in touch as soon as possible if they have not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

Who to contact:
Priority group 1 - older adult care home staff – please contact 0300 303 8322* or email your name, job title and organisation, mobile phone number and nearest mass vaccination centre to [email protected]

Priority group 2 – frontline health and social care staff (including agency) – please contact 0300 303 8322* or email your name, job title and organisation, mobile phone number and nearest mass vaccination centre to [email protected]

Priority group 2 – people aged 80 and over – please contact your GP practice directly.

Priority group 3 – people aged 75 to 79 – please phone 0300 303 8322* or email [email protected]

Health services are being inundated with calls, emails and social media messages from the public enquiring about the vaccine. If you are not in one of the priority groups listed above please do not contact the health board or your GP regarding the vaccine at this time.

Steve Moore, Chief Executive of Hywel Dda UHB, said: “We are confident that everyone in priority groups 1 to 4 will be offered a vaccine by Monday 15 February thanks to the amazing efforts of vaccinating teams across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
“However, people change phone numbers or move to a new house and may not always update their contact details with health services. This is why we want to make absolutely sure no one has missed an appointment for their vaccination.”

*Phonelines are open Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm, Saturday 6 February only between 10am to 4pm, and Sunday 7 February only between 10am to 3pm.

For further updates please visit the Hywel Dda Local Health Board Facebook page.

5/2/2021

Update 1 - Further clarification:
- The vaccination clinics on Tuesday 09/02/21 will continue just as planned but, in an effort to reach out as much as possible to all those in the cohort, telephone contact will be made to encourage attendance.
- After 09/02/21 attempts will be made via telephone to contact all missed patients from the first 4 cohorts and we will be vaccinating all the truly housebound patients depending on supply of vaccine

Update 2 - Further vaccination clarification:
Our extremely vulnerable cohort group (group 4 b) will be directly contacted via the health board team with an offer of an invite to attend for vaccination, to be held at the Pembrokeshire Archives in Haverfordwest. This may be subject to change depending on vaccine number availabilities etc.

We ask that you kindly bear with us during this challenging and ever changing times. We will attempt to keep you updated as soon as we are updated. Many thanks.

Further Clarification:
- The " extremely vulnerable group" ie part of group 4 will now be vaccinated by the health board, in Tenby Leisure Centre. You will notified via the health board independent to the surgery.

- The 09.00-12.00 Friday 5/2/21 vaccination session is "walk in" with no appointment times and no telephone invitation. This will incorporate the 70-75 yr olds with surnames A - H.
Please do not attend if you are outside this age range and alphabetical range.

- A further vaccination day is being arranged for Tuesday 09/02/21, for the remaining alphabetical ranges in the 70-75 age group and this group will be notified by telephone

The distribution of covid vaccinations remain unreliable and haphazard and arrangements have to be made at short notice.

If you are in a lower cohort, please rest assured that you will be invited for immunisation at the earliest opportunity dependent on vaccine availability.
