The meeting was convened using the Jitsi Meet app.

CEP Donation:
The meeting was called to discuss an approach from Peter Davies the chair of Community Energy Pembrokeshire, the owners and operators of the Prouts Park turbine, offering a donation of £1,000 for the benefit of the East Williamston community. Mr Davies had originally approached EWCC but it had not wished to become involved and referred him to the Association.

Mr Davies had made it clear that CEP would normally want to make sure the donation applied to climate and/or nature related activities but understood that given the current Covid-19 related situation there might be wider community needs in the short term.

The Association is planning to replace the oil storage tank for the central heating boiler as required by current regulations and recognises that the boiler itself will need to be replaced before too long. Doug and Cliff were therefore investigating whether the present system could be replaced with an air source heat pump system or some other “green” system. Doug therefore thought that, if the Association was minded to accept an offer of £1,000 from CEP we could link its use to such a scheme to make it more acceptable to CEP.

The trustees were informed that there are a number of people within the village of East Williamston who are unhappy with the turbine and who might feel we should not accept money derived from its operation. Other trustees thought that, as the turbine is there and we cannot do anything about it, we might as well accept the money and use it in a way which benefits the community.

After some further discussion along similar lines, Doug proposed that we should accept any offer from CEP and the trustees voted to adopt the proposal by a majority of 10 to 3. Doug asked Tony to formally write to Mr Davies to inform him of the trustees’ decision.
